Windows 7 (and Server 2008) allows you to change the background of the logon screen. With some creativity you can have your own pictures to be the background for your logon screen. Your picture will also be used when the screen is locked.

Export power scheme.

Lets say for example, you do all that work to customize the power scheme on your laptop. You might even write down some of the advanced settings to tweaked. Why not export it to use the next time you need it.

Business Analyst asking to re-run setup (setup.msi)

Quick System Info: ( Business Analyst 9.3.1 w/ ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1 ArcEditor Single Use )

Starting Business Analyst, was asked to reinstall.
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
When opening Business Analyst after updating, received the following error message:

"Could not validate application directory: C:\ArcGIS\Bin\GxImageConnect.dll
Current ImageConnect loaded from C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\GxImageConnect.dll"

BGInfo settings for ArcGIS Desktop 9.3

Whats needed:

  1. ESRI ArcGIS software
  2. BGInfo from Microsoft/Sysinternals http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897557.aspx
BGInfo can read registry settings and write them to the desktop wallpaper.

Create backup images of old floppy disks

This is a quick desciption of using your Linux box to make floppy disk IMG files. Once you have the IMG files, you can load them into your virtual machines or load them as a read-only block device to get to the info. Just what you need for that vintage computing feel.

ArcMap Recent File List (How to clear the history)
